Custom Filter Cylinders

Dongce manufactures custom filter cylinders for liquid, gas and process filtration. Filter cylinders are made to drawing and installation requirements, with filtration requirements from 1 micron and above and diameters from 5 mm and above, subject to media and manufacturing review.

Filter Media Options

Filter cylinders can be fabricated from woven wire mesh, perforated metal, sintered mesh and expanded metal. Multi-layer constructions can combine a fine filtration layer with a support layer for strength and service life.

Materials

Available materials include stainless steel grades such as 304, 304L, 316 and 316L, as well as carbon steel, copper and nickel. Material selection is matched to the filtered medium, corrosion conditions, temperature and required service life.

Micron Rating and Media Selection

The 1 micron and above range is a custom filtration requirement, not a guarantee that every material, diameter or construction achieves the same retention. State whether the micron value means a geometric opening, measured pore size or a tested particle-retention rating. For nominal or absolute ratings, provide the test method, efficiency criterion and acceptance requirements.

Woven mesh or sintered mesh may form the filtration layer. Perforated metal and expanded metal are often selected as support or protective layers; these materials alone should not be assumed to provide 1 micron filtration. Final performance depends on the selected medium, tolerances, assembly and operating conditions.

Cylinder Drawing and Installation Requirements

• Outer diameter, inner diameter where applicable, length, wall thickness and tolerances.
• Single-layer or multilayer construction, filtration medium and support arrangement.
• Flange dimensions, end caps, open ends, connection and sealing details.
• Seam construction, flow direction and installation supports.
• Working medium, flow rate, temperature and maximum differential pressure.
• Cleaning or backwashing conditions, inspection criteria and quantity.

The 5 mm and above diameter range does not imply that every alloy, flange design or 1 micron construction is feasible at 5 mm. Submit the complete drawing for review. Structural support, seams, end connections and sealing must be considered for pressure service.

Industrial Applications and Qualification

Custom filter components can be assessed for chemical processing, petroleum equipment, food machinery, mining process fluids and other industrial filtration systems. Electronics, printing or aerospace-related requirements should be submitted with the equipment specification, cleanliness requirements and drawing for review.

Material designation alone does not establish food-contact compliance, aerospace approval or a pressure rating. Specify any required certificates, traceability, inspection and customer qualification before order confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a cylinder be made with a flange or multiple layers?

Single-layer, multilayer and flanged designs can be reviewed against your drawing. Specify the filtration layer, support layers, flange geometry and sealing arrangement.

Is a filter cylinder a complete replacement cartridge?

Not necessarily. A complete cartridge may require specific end fittings, seals, supports and validated performance. Send the equipment drawing and replacement specification rather than relying on diameter and length alone.

Can filter cylinders be cleaned and reused?

Reuse depends on the medium, alloy, assembly and retained contamination. Specify compatible cleaning conditions, inspect for damage and validate required performance before returning a component to service.
