Plain Weave Stainless Steel Wire Mesh

Plain weave stainless steel wire mesh is one of the most widely used woven wire mesh products for industrial filtration, screening, sieving and protection. Each weft wire passes alternately over and under each warp wire, producing uniform square openings and a stable, balanced mesh structure.

Available Stainless Steel Grades

AISI 304 Stainless Steel

A widely used and cost-effective grade with good corrosion resistance and formability. It is suitable for general industrial screening, food processing, ventilation and protective applications.

AISI 304L Stainless Steel

The low-carbon version of 304 offers improved resistance to sensitization after welding and is suitable for fabricated mesh components.

AISI 316 Stainless Steel

Type 316 contains molybdenum for improved resistance to chlorides, chemicals and demanding environments. It is commonly selected for chemical processing, marine-related applications and high-performance filtration.

AISI 316L Stainless Steel

The low-carbon version of 316 combines good weldability with excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for welded filter elements and demanding process environments.

Mesh Opening Calculation

The clear opening can be estimated with the following formula:

Opening (mm) = 25.4 ÷ Mesh Count − Wire Diameter (mm)

For example, a 20 mesh wire cloth made with 0.40 mm wire has an approximate clear opening of 0.87 mm. Actual dimensions are subject to manufacturing tolerances.
